I'll rephrase my question: Where'd Protestants come up with the idea that Purgatory is some kind of second

chance or a place in between heaven and hell? I'm not asking where'd the doctrine come from, I'm asking where'd Protestants get the (wrong) idea of what the doctrine of Purgatory is.
