What dental schools in the US need guinea pigs for ortho treatments?

Specifically, I need major realigning of my teeth that may require surgery. The total for braces and hospital fees is much more than I can afford with or without insurance (I am an adult), it will probably be the price of a brand new car. Braces when I was younger was not an option in my family when it actually would have been cheaper then and my problem of thumbsucking would have been addressed prior to braces many years before I stopped on my own. Problems have just grown worse and it affects my self confidence. When going for checkups, I never have cavities, much if any tarter, or things of that nature, I take care of my teeth religiously, it's just the crookedness and gaps that bother me. I prefer a place on the east coast if possible. Thanks for your help and understanding.
