His103 Question about African backwardness HELP!?

5. The course textbook states that “African ‘backwardness’ was a myth perpetuated after the slave trade” (12). Explain how the African Slave Trade perpetuated this myth. In your response, also discuss why, as the course textbook states, “dehumanizing slaves involved one of the great paradoxes of modern history” (61). The textbook also states that “the racial tensions that grew out of slavery so deeply marked society that the problem of race has continued to be one of this nation’s most difficult problems” (44). Explain how these racial tensions (including the myth of backwardness and the dehumanization of African American men and women) remain in American culture and society today.
